Introduction
Backup tool controls all the backups you have created and backups
created automatically. It contains all the features you need
to maintain your backups.
Features
Refresh - Updates the list
of backups.
Combine - Combines two or
more backups to one backup. For example if you removed ten files
the program also created ten backups. If you later want to combine
those ten backups to just one backup then select the backups
and click Combine. There are some restrictions about combining
backups, for example you can only combine local backups with
each other.
Rename - Renames the selected
backup.
Restore - Restore the selected
backup or backups.
Custom restore... - Allows
you to modify the contents of a registry backup file. You can
restore specific entries inside it and also to remove entries
from the backup file itself.
Remove - Removes the selected
backup or backups.
Additional features
The backup tool also maintains a RestoreAll.bat file which is
located in the root of your backup dir. Running it will automatically
restore all registry backups from the program's backup directory.
By default, the RestoreAll.bat is updated only when you access
the backup tool, this policy is due to performance issues. If
you wish the file to be updated e.g. every time you close the
jv16 PowerTools you can do it very easily by using the "UpdateRestoreAllBat"
command. Just create an automatically executed script with the
Script Wizard and tell it to execute the command when the program
is closed. |
